FAQs
Help Centre & FAQs
Welcome to our Help Centre! We understand you might have questions before, during, or after your physiotherapy journey. Here, we’ve gathered answers to the most common queries we receive. Our goal is to make your experience at The Whiteley Physiotherapy Centre as smooth and comfortable as possible. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, please don’t hesitate to give our friendly team a call – we’re always happy to help!
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your initial appointment will involve a thorough assessment where your physiotherapist listens carefully to your concerns, takes a detailed medical history, and conducts a physical examination. This helps us understand your condition fully. We’ll then explain our findings clearly, discuss a personalised treatment plan, and usually begin treatment straight away. It’s an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have!
How long do appointments last?
Initial assessments typically last around 45-60 minutes, allowing ample time for a comprehensive understanding of your needs. Follow-up appointments are usually 30-45 minutes, focusing on treatment and progression.
What should I wear for my appointment?
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area we’ll be examining and treating. For example, shorts for a knee issue or a vest top for a shoulder problem are often helpful.
Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist?
No, you do not need a referral from your GP to book an appointment with us. You can contact us directly to schedule your assessment. However, if you are claiming through private medical insurance, your insurer may require a GP referral, so please check with them beforehand.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed varies greatly depending on your condition, its severity, and how quickly you respond to treatment. After your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will discuss a recommended treatment plan and an estimated number of sessions with you. Our goal is to get you better as efficiently as possible.
Is physiotherapy covered by private medical insurance?
Yes, we are recognised by most major private medical insurance companies. Please let us know if you plan to use your insurance when booking. It’s important to contact your insurer beforehand to get authorisation, understand your policy’s terms (e.g., excess, number of sessions), and confirm if a GP referral is required by them.
What are your fees?
Our fees vary depending on the type and length of your appointment (initial assessment vs. follow-up). You can find our current fee structure on our prices page, or please feel free to call our reception team for details. Payment is usually taken at the end of each session.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
We understand that sometimes life happens! We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the slot to another patient in need. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation fee.
What happened to LB Healthcare?
LB Healthcare was renamed The Whiteley Physiotherapy Centre when it was sold to Yves De Vos and Patrick Sanford in April 2025. Yves and Patrick bring over 30 years experience of successfully running several physiotherapy practices in the South of England.
